All three metals fell this week. Copper gave back last week’s gains, and aluminium slipped for a third week running. Here’s how each LME market moved and what it means if you have scrap to sell.
Copper -
LME copper fell about 1.8%, wiping out last week’s 1.6% rise. It’s still a big-value metal, but the market is a touch softer than it was seven days ago.
Aluminium (HG) -
Aluminium fell about 1.8%, its third weekly fall in a row after last week’s 2.6% drop. If you’ve been holding aluminium and waiting for a bounce, it still hasn’t arrived.
Lead -
LME lead dipped about 0.7%, giving back some of last week’s 1.5% rise. That’s a quiet week by lead’s standards.
What does it mean for trade sellers?
Prices are down across the board, but only by small amounts. Waiting for the market to turn is a gamble, and aluminium sellers have now waited three weeks. The price you’re offered on any one load depends more on who’s bidding for it than on the LME headline. The more buyers that see your material, the better your chance of a strong offer. List your scrap on ScrapBays and let buyers compete for it.
