Copper and lead rose this week, while aluminium fell again. Here is how each LME market moved and what it means if you have scrap to sell.
Copper -
LME copper rose about 1.6%, a firmer week after last week’s flat 0.3% move. If you’re holding copper, the market is a little kinder than it was seven days ago.
Aluminium (HG) -
Aluminium fell about 2.6%, its second weekly fall in a row after last week’s 3.3% drop. If you’re sitting on aluminium and waiting for a recovery, it hasn’t come yet.
Lead -
LME lead rose about 1.5%, winning back some of last week’s 3.9% fall. Lead is the smallest of the three markets, so expect it to move around more week to week.
What does it mean for trade sellers?
Copper and lead are higher, aluminium is lower. Moves of a few per cent a week add up, but the price you’re offered on any one load depends more on who’s bidding for it than on the LME headline. The more buyers that see your material, the better your chance of a strong offer. List your scrap on ScrapBays and let buyers compete for it.
